New Guild member, 23-year-old Katie Fallon, joined AgriConnect in January to report on livestock topics, shows and sales in Farmers Guardian and Dairy Farmer.

“I’m very new to journalism,” she acknowledges. “I’m from a beef, sheep and dairy farming background and before my new job I worked at Morrisons in a producer-support role for the supermarket’s free-range egg suppliers.”

In her application to join the Guild, Katie wrote: “The Guild looks like an amazing opportunity to network and learn from some of the most experienced and accomplished writers in the industry. I believe being a member of the Guild would help me acquire the tools needed to develop as a journalist within the industry.”

Katie, who lives on a farm near Barnard Castle, Co Durham, studied agribusiness at Harper Adams University College and completed a 10-month work placement at Dunbia, the Northern Ireland red meat processor, as part of her degree course.
