Claire Taylor

Freelance columnist for The Herald
Freelance political commentator for BBC Scotland

Location: Scotland

Sector: Happy to comment across all sectors but I am more knowledgeable within livestock production.

Happy to talk about:

  • Agricultural policy, rural affairs, and general news stories in farming.
  • Livestock production, welfare, and nutrition.
  • Ecosystem services and general environment/conservation issues.

Talking Point: I have worked in the media for almost nine years, four of which were at the BBC as a TV producer on elections and five years for the Scottish Farmer as their Political Affairs editor. I have now switched to the world of PR but have never been busier with freelance writing and TV/radio appearances.

Other skills and hobbies:

  • I am a regular after dinner speaker, conference host and panel facilitator.
  • I breed Belted Galloway Cattle and look after a small herd along with my mum.
  • I used to compete for Scotland in athletics, but now can be found at my local climbing wall bouldering.

Previous media experience:

  • Four years at BBC Scotland, working formerly in Sport and then moving on to News.
  • Four and a half years at the Scottish Farmer as their Political Affairs Editor.
  • One and a half years as a columnist in the Herald newspaper.

Declared interests: None.
