Among new Friends of the Guild is Emma Craigie, commercial director at The Ad Plain Ltd based inWallingford, Oxfordshire. This full service marketing and advertising agency has a contract publishing division and lists among its clients BASF and Monsanto within the agricultural industry, as well as Mars, Aer Lingus and the campaign body Against Breast Cancer outside the farming sector.
“I’ve worked in publishing since graduating in environmental geology some 18 years ago,” says Emma. “First at Director Publications, part of theInstituteofDirectors, and then as a co-founder of Caspian Publishing, a business-to-business proprietary and contract publisher.”
She left her commercial role at Caspian in 2001 to join The Ad Plain and works extensively across many industry sectors.
“But I’ve been working heavily over the past four years within the agricultural sector, mainly servicing clients in a commercial, advertising and marketing capacity,” Emma explains. “However, I still relish interfering with our contract magazine flatplans; I love the world of printed magazines and I believe that this media will always offer a valuable place for certain content and communication.”
Incidentally, if Emma’s surname sounds familiar, it is: her sister is Guild deputy chairman, Jane Craigie.
