Entries are open for the Guild’s 2022 Perkins Power on the Farm Awards – with a total prize fund of £3,700 shared between the two winners and runners up.
Perkins Power on the Farm, the Guild’s longest-running award, has been revamped with an exciting new category, a revised prize structure – and a reminder from Perkins that it’s not just machinery writers who can enter.
Since its debut in 1972, the Award – which is open to all Guild members, irrespective of the topics in which they specialise – has recognised and rewarded the best and most engaging pieces of writing about ‘power on the farm’.
New for 2022, in addition to the ‘power on the farm’ award, Perkins is introducing a new category of ‘tech on the farm’ to reflect the growing importance of agri-tech at the farm level.
What’s more, for the first time, Perkins is widening the scope of the award to include broadcast material (radio and TV) and podcasts too.
The overall winners in each category – ‘Power’ and ‘Tech’ – will each receive £1200, while a runner-up and third-placed entry from either category will receive £800 and £500 respectively, in addition to an all-expenses day out in London.
Champagne and gourmet food are the order of the day, alongside activities that have included everything from a sedate Thames cruise to hair-raising rocket boating, pasta-making to cocktail masterclasses, The Ritz and The Ivy, and even a ringside seat at the 2012 Olympics.
How do I enter?
Entry is simple as judges are just looking for an article you had published or broadcast in 2021.
Email us a copy of the article or a link to the broadcast/podcast by 6pm on Monday August 22, 2022, and a sentence or two about its purpose. You can then sit back and wait to hear if you have won.
What’s in it for me?
Aside from being in with a chance of winning one of four cash prizes, you’ll be treated to a spectacular day in London.
This year’s winners will be treated to a very special dining experience, as Perkins, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary, looks to deliver yet another memorable event.
Terms of entry
