Guild members are now invited to enter the 2024 Perkins Power on the Farm Awards – with a boosted total prize fund of £4,100 shared between the two winners and runners up.

Perkins Power on the Farm is the Guild’s longest-running award, debuting in 1972. The Award is open to all Guild members (irrespective of topic specialisations) and has two categories: ‘Power on the farm’ and ‘Tech on the farm’.

Eligible articles will have been published or broadcast (TV, radio or podcasts) in 2023. Perkins is looking for the most engaging pieces on ‘power on the farm’ and ‘tech on the farm’, from any author, not just machinery writers.

The overall winners of each category – ‘Power’ and ‘Tech’ – will each receive £1,300, while a runner-up and third-placed entry from either category will receive £900 and £600 respectively, in addition to a day out, with all-expenses paid, in London.

As always, those lucky enough to join the prize giving day will enjoy gourmet food and drink alongside a surprise exclusive ‘experience’. Past examples include Wimbledon, The Ritz, The Savoy, The Ivy, and the 2012 Olympics.

“We’re really looking forward to this year’s award’s day. We always strive to deliver a memorable experience, and we believe this will be another luncheon that will be talked about for years to come,” said Annette Ward, Perkins’ marketing communications manager.

“As the prize fund has been increased, I’d encourage Guild members to go through their published or broadcast content from 2023, select one piece that meets either the ‘power’ or ‘tech’ award criteria, and then submit the entry as soon as possible.”

How do I enter?

Simply email us a copy of the article (or a link to the broadcast/podcast) you had published in 2023 by 6pm on Friday May 24, 2024, with a sentence or two about its purpose. You can then sit back and wait to hear from the judges if you have won.

What’s in it for me?

The chance of winning one of four cash prizes and a spectacular day out in London.

Terms of entry
