This year’s BGAJ Agricultural Journalism Awards – which recognise the best in British written and broadcast agricultural journalism – are now open for entries.

Sponsored this year by ABP, the awards will be judged by a panel of leading industry figures and previous winners.

Divided into three categories: Arable; Grassland and Livestock; and Environment and Rural Affairs, ABP will be generously funding a £1950 prize fund for this year’s awards with £500 for each winner of the three categories and £150 for each runner up in the three categories.

As an added bonus for the winners and runners up, ABP will also invite them to a celebratory lunch at ABP’s Demonstration Farm for an immersive meat experience with the team’s Master Butcher, Dave Smith and ABP’s chef.

Part of the ABP Food Group, ABP UK specialises in the supply and development of award-winning British and Irish beef and lamb products for retail, foodservice and wholesale.

Phil Hambling, ABP’s Director of Agriculture said:

“The community of agricultural journalists and communicators is an often-hidden part of our sector and their role in communicating what’s important to farmers and growers is crucial.

“Our team at ABP has immense respect for the work that they all do and it’s a great privilege to sponsor the awards and to recognise the best of broadcast and print journalism.

“We look forward to joining everyone at the Guild’s Harvest Lunch on October 9, when the awards will be presented, and welcoming winners and runners up to a celebratory lunch with us thereafter.”

Entries should have been published or broadcast in Great Britain between August 1, 2024 and August 1, 2025 and are limited to one entry per Guild member. Nominations will be accepted from third parties, such as an editor or producer.

To enter, please use the relevant entry form by no later than Friday, 22 August.
