Guild member photographers have donated another set of superb images for the fund-raising calendar published by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), which was launched at the Guild’s first reception for members and guests at the Royal Welsh Show in July.

The calendar, sponsored by NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, is an important source of funds for RABI, which was formed to support members of the farming community in England and Wales suffering need, hardship or distress – there is a separate organisation doing similar work in Scotland, the RSABI.

“The RABI supports people in the farming industry who are experiencing financial hardship,” explains Guild member Nick Bond, RABI press officer. “We can help if they have worked full time on the land as a farmer, farm manager or farm worker for ten years or more, and we also help their dependants.”

Aid is tailored to the needs of individuals on a confidential basis and can include grants for elderly or disabled beneficiaries; guidance on state benefits and help with claiming entitlements; emergency financial assistance towards domestic bills or towards developing extra skills.

Help may also be available for care home fees and the RABI itself has two residential homes and other retirement facilities. In special situations, the charity can help with the provision of equipment for people with disabilities.

Copies of the RABI 2013 Farming in Focus calendar are available via the charity’s website for £6 each, plus postage of £2 for one copy; £3 for two copies; and £5 for three copies.
