What’s the story you’re most proud of having told during 2025?
Whether it was described in words, captured in a photograph, uploaded as a podcast or spoken into a mic, here’s your chance to let it shine on the world stage.
It’s the time of year when IFAJ open entries for the IFAJ Alliance Tire Star Prize, the only awards that recognise the excellence of agricultural journalism around the world. This is your opportunity to have your worked judged by, and against, your peers.
Every story that IFAJ members write or broadcast, every photograph that accompanies that story: every one is born of passion. Not just the passion for agriculture, in all its wide and varied forms, but the themes and aspects that make it tick, and the skills, insight and dedication that’s required to instil them with life, context and understanding.
You brought those stories to life for your readers, listeners and viewers. Now give them the opportunity to receive a second round of appreciation by entering them for the Star Prize.

- Supreme Guild Award.
That’s twelve chances to go away a Winner, each in receipt of a €500 cash prize, thanks to the support of Star Prize partner Alliance Tire for a third year. Then there’s a further ten chances to receive the recognition and reward associated with a Commendation.
What makes a winner?
Entries will be judged for their storytelling and impact within the five themes of:
- Innovation: Fresh ideas and creative approaches in agriculture: the ‘how’
- Sustainability: Environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
- Technology: The tools and advancements are shaping the industry: the ‘what’
- Trade, Economics or Global Issues: The business and financial side of agriculture.
- Rural Culture: Bringing traditions and communities to life.
The top entry in each theme receives a €500 cash prize.
What formats will be judged?
- Photography
- Audio Broadcasts (including podcasts)
- Video Broadcasts
- Digital Media
The top entry in each format receives a €500 cash prize.
Alliance Tire Journalist of the Year
The ten Winners will be judged a second time: one of those winners will be recognised for their outstanding ability and skill in agricultural journalism with the honour of Journalist of the Year 2026 and a further €500 cash prize.
Supreme Guild Award
Each IFAJ member guild can put forward any winner from their own domestic awards programme. These will be judged in a separate category, with the author of the best piece of work receiving the Supreme Guild Award and a €500 cash prize.

The competition is open to all members of IFAJ guilds in good standing.
Each participant may submit up to two entries in total, with a maximum of one entry per theme.
Entries must have been published in 2025 and can be in English or translated (translations must be provided by the entrant).
