Do you want to get more involved in the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists? There are several opportunities, so please do get in touch if you’re interested and want to find out more.
There are still tickets available for the IFAJ congress in Kenya, from October 14-18 – it promises to be a fantastic opportunity to learn about Kenyan farming, networking with likeminded journalists and communicators from all over the world. You can also take part in organised safaris and trips in the pre- and post-congress tours.
The IFAJ has several committees, and you don’t have to be an official representative to take part. Committees include Freedom of the Press, Finance, CPD, host liaison, and membership. The IFAJ is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2026 so there will also be a committee to organise this. All are open to new members, but the finance and freedom of the press committee are particularly in need of help!
We are attempting to set up a route to bring surplus laptops, cameras and other technology to help journalists in third world countries. If your organisation has any spares which it would like to donate, or would like to support the initiative financially, please let us know.
The BGAJ is delighted to be hosting the Congress in the UK in 2029, as well as the Executive Committee meeting in April 2027. This is going to involve hosting journalists and communicators from all over the world and showcasing the best of UK farming and agricultural media. We need as many hands on-deck to help deliver these events so please do get in touch if you can help.
The IFAJ is there to deliver for its members, and that includes every single member of the British Guild, as you are all members as part of your BGAJ membership. If you have ideas that you’d like to see implemented, or just want to find out more, please let us know.
For more information on any of these initiatives please contact Olivia Cooper on international@gaj.org.uk.
