Long time member of the Guild, John Swire has announced his retirement after 30 years membership.

John spent the first 16 years of his working life on the family dairy farm in North Shropshire before attending university and then joining Mistral in Shrewsbury followed by a move to Chipping Norton to work for Four Seasons Publicity and then to Ipswich to work for John Alborough. Following this he joined Broglio where amongst other things he edited the A&I newsletter. This led him to working for John and Simon Lewis where he edited Agronomist and Arable Farmer for seven years. The last few years have seen John freelancing from Somerset and West Wales following his wife Tina, an itinerant Methodist Minister.

If asked to name everyone in the Guild who he had dealings with, it would be probably easier just to look at all the names in the Guild book. He remains ever grateful to have made so many friends and memories over the years and wishes the Guild all the best in the future. John will spend his retirement in west Wales wandering along beaches and mountain tops sustained by many great memories of friends and colleagues.
