Kendalls, a leading PR and marketing consultancy specialising in agriculture, land use, rural affairs and associated industries, is expanding its team and recruiting agricultural journalists and PR professionals.

Working across sectors including environment, energy, animal health and crop production, Kendalls supports clients throughout the farming and rural industries to raise their profile and communicate effectively with key audiences.

The firm is seeking both full-time and part-time candidates with strong agricultural knowledge and industry awareness. The role will involve writing technical features and news articles, producing press releases, and supporting social media campaigns on behalf of clients.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Research and write high-quality articles, reports, and features on agricultural topics.
  • Conduct interviews with farmers, industry experts, and policymakers.
  • Ability to research and cover trends in crop production, livestock, agri-technology, sustainability, and rural economy.
  • Investigate challenges such as climate change, market shifts, pests/disease outbreaks, and policy impacts.
  • Produce compelling multimedia content when needed.
  • Collaborate with editors and contribute to story ideas and coverage planning.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to deadlines.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in reporting on agriculture or environmental topics.
  • Have strong writing and interviewing skills.
  • Ability to translate technical agricultural information into clear, engaging content.
  • Understanding farming systems and current industry trends.
  • Ability to travel for field reporting and events.

 This role offers the flexibility of working from home, with occasional office-based work and attendance at events.

Depending on experience, Kendalls is offering a salary of circa £42,000 per annum, with pro rata arrangements available for part-time employees.
