Guild member Milly Fyfe, an agricultural communicator and social entrepreneur, has launched a Crowdfunder campaign this Christmas to support her latest venture: The Countryside Kitchen. As part of her Community Interest Company (CIC), No Fuss Meals for Busy Parents, this project focuses on reconnecting people with food, farming, and nature through immersive on-farm workshops.

A Journey of Communication and Impact
Milly’s career as an agricultural journalist and communicator is studded with accolades, including being named in the 40 under 40 awards for agricultural leadership, winning the She Inspires Women in Leadership award, and earning an Associateship of the Royal Agricultural Societies. These recognitions underscore her commitment to bridging the gap between farming and the public, a passion that inspired her to establish the CIC in 2023.

Milly initially started her journey during the pandemic, sharing stories of life on her Northamptonshire farm through a food blog and social media. She involved her two young sons in growing, harvesting, and cooking meals, which resonated with her audience and laid the foundation for No Fuss Meals for Busy Parents. Since its inception, the CIC has won multiple awards for its innovative approach, including being named Best New Start-Up by NNBN Awards and receiving support from HRH The Princess Royal.

The Countryside Kitchen: A Hands-On Approach to Food Education
The Countryside Kitchen is Milly’s latest initiative, designed to teach families and individuals how to grow, cook, and eat nutritious, sustainable food. These workshops emphasise hands-on learning, blending practical skills with education on sustainable farming and healthy eating. Milly explains:

“The Countryside Kitchen is about empowering people to reconnect with food, farming, nature, and each other. By teaching sustainable practices and encouraging healthy eating, we’re creating lasting change in our community. Our goal is to inspire informed food choices that will benefit generations to come.”

Why Crowdfunding Matters
The Crowdfunder campaign, supported by Aviva Community Fund’s match-funding initiative, is a crucial step in bringing The Countryside Kitchen to life. Funds will be used to create an accessible and welcoming space, purchase essential equipment for growing and cooking workshops, and enhance the overall learning experience.

“The match funding from Aviva is a fantastic boost, doubling the impact of every donation we receive,” says Milly. “This support will help us create a space where people can connect with food and farming, fostering sustainability, wellbeing, and community spirit.”

How to Get Involved
The campaign runs until 10th January 2025, and every pound pledged will be matched by Aviva, doubling its impact. To donate and learn more, visit www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/the-countryside-kitchen.

This festive season, Milly invites Guild members and the wider agricultural community to support The Countryside Kitchen and help spread the word. Together, we can give the gift of sustainability, knowledge, and connection.
