The Newsquest Group is expanding its ‘Farmer’ portfolio with the launch of Southern Farmer, a monthly broadsheet for agricultural businesses in Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, East and West Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
Styled along the lines of associate publication The Scottish Farmer, the new title’s launch follows the successful introduction of Northern Farmer last autumn (see Guild eAlert October 2010).
The new publication’s editor, farmer Bill Browne, says of the venture “We are delighted to be bringing this latest farming newspaper to the market in an area that is rich in agriculture and related industries.
“We aim to make Southern Farmer an essential read for all people who have an interest in farming matters in this region and will strive to make it the voice of those who are knowledgeable about the subject.”
The team responsible for the publication has been drawn from the company’s daily and weekly newspapers in the Hampshire, Dorsetand Sussex region, including the Daily Echo publications in Hampshire and Dorset, the Brighton Argus, Salisbury Journal, Andover Advertiser, Basingstoke Gazette and Hampshire Chronicle.
Available by subscription and through newsagents, Southern Farmer’s distribution area sits alongside Newsquest’s South-West Farmer publication, which covers Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.
News is also carried on the publication’s website. Editor Bill Browne can be contacted by email.
