Guild Members and Friends enjoyed an excellent cheese and wine reception with good company at this year’s Livestock Event (8-9 July).

As usual, this year’s get-together followed a busy first day at the event, and was held in the Media Centre at the Birmingham NEC.

English wines and cheese were kindly provided courtesy of NFU Mutual, whose Tim Price welcomed guests and spoke about their new online risk management service.

The event also provided an opportunity for Stephanie Berkeley of the Farm Safety Foundation to highlight activities during Farm Safety Week (6-10 July).

Guild council member Jamie Day gave the vote of thanks.

This year’s reception saw the official launch of the Perkins Global Innovation Scholarship – a major scholarship now being offered by the Guild.

Worth £5,000, the scholarship supports international travel and professional development opportunities for Guild journalists and communicators.

The Guild remains grateful to Perkins, which is committed to continuing its support following last year’s highly successful IFAJ 2014 event.

The focus of the trips will be on giving Guild Members a greater understanding of farming innovation in Latin America, China and India.
