About Seeded and the role

What Seeded does

Seeded, a rapidly growing agricultural marketing agency, is looking for a Marketing Account Manager to join their dynamic team. A rapidly growing agricultural marketing agency, Seeded supports businesses in the sector with three core competencies: proven marketing experience, an intimate knowledge of farming, and unrivalled technical expertise.

Seeded has diverse clients across the sector, from crop inputs to farm machinery and controlled environment agriculture. Their size ranges from some of the biggest international corporations in the industry to start-ups.

The services offered by Seeded are as diverse as their client base. Around half of Seeded’s current portfolio is technical PR and content creation, but they have expanded to provide a complete marketing service for several clients. Seeded’s full-service offer includes strategy development, digital marketing (including paid and organic social), media booking, events, and everything in between.

How Seeded does it

A productive agency is a successful one.

Seeded fosters productivity by embracing a collaborative approach. They invest in top-notch equipment, IT systems, and people to deliver work promptly and exceptionally. The staff are trusted to work in ways they believe will yield the best results for clients.

When the need arises, Seeded leverages the expertise of long-standing specialist freelance resources. These partners have collaborated with Seeded for several years, bringing a wealth of experience in the agricultural sector. They augment Seeded’s capabilities, ensuring the agency’s commitment to quality remains uncompromised.

Seeded operates a flexible working hours policy to enhance productivity and accommodate busy personal lives. Clients’ priorities and deadlines are theirs; meeting these is all that matters.

Marketing is a collaborative and creative discipline. Personal interaction is critical to delivering outstanding campaigns. Seeded asks for two days per week in the office to work face-to-face as a team.

Seeded is based at the NIAB Barn4 AgTech incubator in Histon, Cambridgeshire, which boasts excellent facilities and allows for collaboration with some of the industry’s leading experts. The village also offers a superb choice of cafes and pubs where the team enjoys the social aspect of Seeded.

What the Marketing Account Manager would do

The Marketing Account Manager’s work would mirror the diversity of Seeded’s business as a whole. A typical week would involve working in the office for two days per week, two days at home (or in the office if preferred), and one day with clients, at an event, or on a farm.

Communicating directly with clients, the Marketing Account Manager would coordinate and prioritize their work. This includes approximately 50% technical and corporate PR and content creation, 20% digital marketing and social media, and the remainder a mixture of other marketing tasks, client reporting, and strategy development.

The role is high-profile, with exposure across multiple businesses and sectors. The Marketing Account Manager would benefit from developing a wide network of contacts that can help clients and enhance their reputation in the agriculture industry.

Who Seeded is looking for

The skills needed

Seeded’s value to its clients comes from its three core competencies: proven marketing experience, an intimate knowledge of farming, and unrivalled technical expertise. Therefore, they are looking for someone to join their team who demonstrates skills or experience in two or three of these areas:

  • Proven marketing experience: The candidate has been successful in a marketing or marketing communications role for at least three years.
  • An intimate knowledge of farming: The candidate has grown up on a farm, has practical experience in agriculture, or studied an agriculture-related subject at university.
  • Unrivalled technical expertise: The candidate’s previous experience has given them technical knowledge in a specific area of agriculture, and they are keen to learn more about agribusiness, agronomy, agricultural machinery, and animal husbandry.

Some travel to visit clients, events, and farms is required, so a full UK driving license is necessary for the role.

The skills that would add value

In addition to the essential skills, the following would add value to the team:

  • Experience with video and audio production.
  • Existing relationships with the UK agriculture trade press.
  • BASIS, FACTS, or similar technical qualifications.
  • A marketing-related qualification such as CIM or CIPR certificates.
  • Practical writing experience for the press or in-house technical literature.
  • Graphic design experience using software such as Canva or InDesign.
  • SEO, AdWords, and paid social media experience.
  • Experience using digital marketing tools like media monitoring, MailChimp, Loomly, Hootsuite, HubSpot, and Zoho.

Work preferences

The Marketing Account Manager will embrace responsibility and be comfortable making informed decisions. When seeking help, they will think beyond the problems to the potential solutions, weighing their merits in their assessment.

They will take pride in their professionalism, always being on time and well-prepared for meetings, considering the impact of their work on others, and keeping the people they are working with well-informed.

The Marketing Account Manager will be comfortable working in a fluid environment. They will be able to adapt their priorities and plans depending on others’ priorities. However, they will also be able to say no if it compromises the quality of their work.

Seeded has ambitious plans for the future, and the Marketing Account Manager will be excited about how this will help them grow their career.

What Seeded offers

When joining the team, the Marketing Account Manager will receive:

  • A salary of £35,000 to £45,000 per year (depending on experience).
  • Flexible working hours.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Pension matched up to 5% of salary.
  • Investment in professional development through formal training, mentoring, and opportunities for additional responsibility as the company grows.
