Shepherd Publishing managing director Howard Venters, a Member of the Guild, has been honoured for his work as a liveryman in the City of London.

Howard was awarded a silver woolsack at this year’s installation dinner of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen, the 52nd Livery Company of the City of London, by out-going Master, Simon Boardman-Weston. The presentation is made annually for outstanding contribution to the Livery Company.

Shepherd publishes the Woolman magazine and is the company’s military liaison officer for affiliated forces. He is also co-organiser of the city sheep drive to take place over London Bridge in September.

“I was delighted and honoured to receive this trophy of a silver woolsack donated to the company by past master Elizabeth Peacock in 2010,” says Howard. “We will have an enjoyable, albeit busy year ahead, and I invite all Members and Friends of the Guild to put September 29 in their diaries for the sheep drive across London Bridge. It will be a spectacular occasion.”

Howard, who is also a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Farmers, is playing a key role in the Guild as organising committee co-chairman for the IFAJ Congress 2014 being held in Scotland, in addition to his duties as Guild deputy chairman and events secretary.
