The winner of the inaugural Mike Evans Award for PR Communications has been announced.
The award, formerly the Guild’s PR Writer of the Year Award, was renamed for 2024 following the death of BGAJ member and founder of Agrafax and Mistral PR agencies, Mike Evans.
The award recognises excellence in PR writing, with a clear focus on strategy. The winner and runner up were honoured in front of colleagues at the Guild’s Harvest Lunch in central London on October 10.
Hannah Binns, rural affairs specialist at NFU Mutual and former Farmers Guardian journalist, won the award for the NFU Mutual’s Rural Crime report.
The entry not only included a report detailing analysis from a large member survey, but a well thought out press release too.
Runner up was Emily Davies, for a Just Farmers briefing ahead of the General Election. Judges liked the fact it was timely and had digital searchability, which as we know is extremely useful for busy newsrooms.
The Mike Evans Award for PR Communications is generously sponsored by Oxtale founder Amy Jackson.
It also has the support of Mike’s former colleagues and friends and his sister, Jane Young.
